Drayton Manor’s Viking
Background
In 2021, Drayton Manor Theme Park unveiled an exhilarating new Viking-themed attraction, complete with a fresh food and beverage retail outlet. Tasked with the design and fit-out of this new culinary space, we collaborated closely with the Head of Catering at Drayton Manor to create a dual-function unit: one part dedicated to food production, and the other showcasing a customer-visible area for hot/chilled beverages and ice cream.
Objective
Our goal was to ensure the cooking equipment was user-friendly for non-specialist staff, while still delivering consistency and quality in the food offerings. The design had to be space-efficient and maintain food at ideal serving temperatures.
Implementation
1. Space-Efficient Cooking Solutions:
We opted for two combination ovens, stacked to maximise vertical space and minimise the floor area used, aligning with the compact nature of the facility.
2. Optimal Food Preservation:
A humidity-controlled hot holding cabinet was installed to keep the food at perfect serving temperatures, ensuring quality and freshness until ordered by customers.
3. Customer-Engaging Layout:
The outlet was designed with an open serving hatch, allowing customers to engage directly with the serving process, enhancing their overall experience.
Outcome
The project was met with great enthusiasm by the client, who was particularly impressed with the efficient use of space and the ease of operation of the cooking equipment. Our ongoing relationship with Drayton Manor continues to flourish, encompassing service, maintenance, provision of new equipment, and involvement in new project installations, solidifying our role as a trusted partner in their ongoing development.
